grass has a moderate spring greenup and fall color retention
and is easily established from seed. Princess's overall turf
quality was rated higher than all commercial bermuda grass
seeded varieties in US and International testing
Golf course fairways and tees, manicured home lawns and
well maintained areas of sports turf and parks.
- Princess 77 Bermuda Grass Seeding Rate:
2 - 3 pounds of seed per 1000 square feet of certified
seed, hulled, coated form.
- Time to Plant: Plant bermuda grass
seed when soil temperatures are consistently above 65° F
- Where to Plant: In full sun on well
drained soil. Proper drainage is essential for
successful establishment and the development of mature
healthy bermuda grass.
- Planting Method: Do not cover the
bermuda grass seed with too much soil - no more than 1/4
in. covering over the seed is recommended.
- Water: Soil moisture around the
bermuda grass seed must be maintained for about 1-2
weeks.
- Days to Germinate: Under ideal
conditions, germination may begin within 7 days. Allow
14 to 21 days for completion for bermuda grass seed.
- Establishment Time: Under ideal
conditions, full coverage may be attained between 4 to 6
weeks. If planting is occurring early or late in the
season, more time may be needed for establishment.
- First Mowing: After most of the
grass seed has filled in and when the blades of grass
are 1/3 taller than your desired mowing height. It is
recommended that no more than 1/3 of the leaf blade be
removed per mowing.
- Mower/Mowing Height/Frequency: Reel
mower recommended/Minimum height 3/8 in. to 3/4 in.
Every 3 to 7 days.
- Winter Overseeding: May be done for
year round green color, but not generally recommended on
bermuda grass less than 6 to 8 months of age. Immature
turf may be damaged by the verticutting and scalping
procedures, leaving it unable to compete with the
overseeded species during the spring transition.
- Maintenance: This hybrid is dense.
Periodic verticutting may be required under high
maintenance conditions.
New turf: 2 - 3 pounds of bermuda grass
seed per 1,000 square feet. Plant when soil temperature
reaches 65 degrees in spring up until a minimum of 6 weeks
before frost in fall.
