BROWN TOP MILLET is a warm season annual grass that
originated from South East Asia and is used in the southern
United States.
It is used for forage, hay, pastures and interseeded with
grasses in erosion control along highways and reclamation
sights.
Brown top millet is usually planted early spring and grows
rapidly. When used in seed mixtures for grassing it
germinates quickly comes in earlier and provides
stabilization of the soil while the grass germinates and
begins to take hold. After the season is over the millet
dies out and the permanent grass is in place. It is used in
game plots for amount and quality of seeds produced.
